Essex Purchases Manitowoc 14000s

Essex Crane Rental Corp. is proud to continue its long standing relationship with Manitowoc Cranes by announcing the purchase of Manitowoc’s new 220-ton crawler crane, the Manitowoc model 14000. As part of Essex’s continuing effort to update its fleet, the 14000 will be a valuable addition to the current 230-ton units, the Manitowoc model 4100W. Essex is the largest North American owner of the Manitowoc 4100W, the most successful crawler crane ever built. Essex’s North American Sales team reports that the 4100W is the most often requested crane by model in the Essex fleet. The legacy of the 4100W is very broad, filling the needs of multiple applications including power, condo construction, petroleum, heavy fabrication and transportation. The dependability of the 4100W also has translated into high value retention. Essex expects the new 14000 to continue the Manitowoc crawler crane heritage of the 4100W which included, outstanding lifting capability, combined with productivity, dependability, long product life and customer support.

“With the success we have had with the 4100W, it was only natural for us to look to Manitowoc, when we were expanding our fleet with new 220-ton units,” stated Ron Schad, President & CEO of Essex. “The 220-ton class is critical to our bare rental fleet.”

The addition of these new units will compliment Essex recent acquisitions of larger cranes in the over 275-ton range.

Essex Crane Rental Corp. has grown steadily over the last 40 years into the world’s largest provider of lattice-boom crawler cranes and attachments. With over 420 cranes and attachments in its fleet, Essex supplies cranes for construction projects related to power generation, petro-chemical, refineries, water treatment & purification, bridges, highways, hospitals, shipbuilding and commercial construction.
